Why My Cat Chose Dirty Water Outside Over Clean Water at Home

This one confused me the most.

I had clean water inside.
Fresh. Changed daily.

But my cat went outside…
and drank from a random puddle.

😅 My first reaction

Honestly? I thought it was just weird.

Why choose that over clean water?

It wasn’t about “clean vs dirty”

It was about:
👉 movement
👉 smell
👉 instinct

Outdoor water moves.
It smells different.
It feels “alive” to them.

💡 What I changed

Instead of fighting it, I adjusted:

fresher water
better placement
moving water

And suddenly…
no more puddle interest.
