As pet parents, we always want to provide the absolute best for our fur babies. But when it comes to their hydration, most of us simply walk over to the kitchen sink, turn on the faucet, and fill their bowls with standard tap water without a second thought.

It seems perfectly fine—after all, if it's safe enough for humans to drink, it must be safe for our cats, right?

The short answer is: not necessarily. While municipal tap water is heavily treated to meet safety standards for human biology, your cat's internal metabolic system is incredibly delicate and operates on a vastly different scale. 1. The Chlorine and Chemical Odor Wall

Municipal water treatment facilities heavily rely on chlorine and chloramine to disinfect water and kill off dangerous pathogens before it reaches your home.
