I Was Cleaning My Cat’s Fountain Wrong This Whole Time

I used to think I was doing everything right.

Every few days, I’d take apart the fountain, rinse everything, scrub what I could, and put it all back together.

It felt like a lot of work — but I thought that’s just what responsible pet owners do.

Still, something didn’t add up.

The fountain would get noisy again pretty quickly.
Sometimes the water didn’t seem as fresh as it should be.

I assumed I just needed to clean it more often.

So I did.

More cleaning.
More scrubbing.
Same result.

That’s when I realized the problem.

I wasn’t cleaning everything — because I couldn’t.

There are parts inside these systems that simply aren’t easy to fully clean.
Especially the small internal components.

And those are exactly the parts that affect performance the most.

So I changed my approach.

Instead of trying to make every part “like new” again, I started focusing on keeping things consistently fresh.

Less scrubbing.
More replacing.

And surprisingly, that made things easier — not harder.

The fountain stayed quieter.
The water stayed cleaner.
And I spent less time dealing with it.

Sometimes doing more isn’t the answer.

Sometimes doing it differently is.
